Frequently Asked Questions for liner replacements
A liner replacement is a significant investment in your home. We’ve rounded up the most common questions
our customers ask to help you feel confident in the process.
How long does the actual installation take?
Once the liner arrives, the physical installation usually takes 1 day. However, the refill process depends on your water source and pool size.
When is the best time of year to replace a liner?
Any time from March through November as long as the temperature is at least 15°C (60°F) for the vinyl to be pliable enough to stretch properly without wrinkling. It can be done in cooler temperatures as long as there is good amount of sunshine warming up the liner.
Can I just patch my liner instead?
If the liner is under 5 years old and has a small localized tear, a patch can work. If the vinyl is brittle or the leak is at a seam, a replacement is the only long-term fix.
Do I need to be home for the installation?
Not necessarily! As long as we have access to the pool area, a working water spigot and an electrical outlet, our crew can handle the heavy lifting while you’re at work.
Does the new liner come with a warranty?
Yes. Most of our premium liners come with a 15 to 25-year pro-rated manufacturer warranty covering seam failures, plus our own 1-year labor guarantee. Our Merlin liners also come with a Concierge 5-year full warranty with an additional $2000.00 to cover a portion of the labor and water cost.
Common Concerns Addressed
"Will my water bill skyrocket?"
Filling a pool from a garden hose can take 24–48 hours and usually adds a noticeable but manageable amount to your utility bill. If you're on a well or want to swim immediately, we can coordinate with local water hauling services to truck in fresh water. We also offer the option of saving and re-using your existing water (up to 25,000 gallons) if it is clean.
"What if my pool floor is cracked when you take the old liner off?"
It’s common to find minor cracks or "heaving" in the vermiculite floor once the old liner is removed. Our team is equipped to perform minor floor resurfacing on the spot to ensure your new liner sits on a perfectly smooth surface.
"How do I choose the right thickness?"
We typically offer 20 mil and 27 mil options. While 27 mil is more puncture-resistant (great for dog owners!), a properly maintained 20 mil liner will often last just as long. We’ll help you weigh the cost-to-benefit ratio based on your pool's usage.
